I would like to somewhat compete with my buddies who have 23 ft centurions for wake surfing. I only have a 400 lb center ballast and a wake plate. How much weight can I put in the rear left?
PS I am the rook of rookies

congrats!

put up some pics of your new toy.

gonna be tough to compete with your buds, but a quick start is a 750 lb bag in the rear locker. when you're ready, follow jmvotto's/canucklehead's advice.

I don't think the 750's will fit.

I am pretty sure the OBV guys upgrade to the 565lb

Yes, 750's will fit in the rear locker and I would estimate them at 90-95% full. I also run a the GI in the center locker and an Integrated Bow Sac. With three guys in the boat and my wife driving (110 lbs soaking wet) It's a great wave. With 4 guys it's awesome!

My experience has been that the more you can get your boat on to its side the better the shape of the wave. We actually get one guy to hang off the tower and lean away from the boat and the other guy to stand on the back corner of the swim grid and while holding the rope lean away from the boat as well. When you do this the wave becomes very clean and hollow.

I just bought another 750 which I plan laying inside the boat when we don't have people to ride with and also to experiment with getting the boat to list over to the side a bit more.

Here is picture where we have 3 guys in the boat, my wife driving, all 3 bags full and the wake plate is all the way up:

That was me in Costa Rica back at the beggining of July surfing Ollie's Point. Sweet wave!

Well, if you want to get technical about it. It was a good looking "artificial wave".

Do you use them for wakeboarding or surfing?

I am looking to upgrade my ballast but I wakeboard 99% of the time. Having 750's in the rear and only a 400 in the center would seem unbalanced.

Don't fill the 750's all the way and they'll work great for wakeboarding. When I upgraded from GI to GIII I put 400's in the back, wish I would have just got two 750's. Two 750's gives you more flexibility, you can set up for surfing either side easier, and have more weight in the back if you really want to slam the boat for a bigger wake (need more weight up front of course). Oh well, live and learn.

Yeah but what a pain in the butt to keep an eye to make sure they fill 1/2 way each time I fill them up. Not really worth it since I am wakeboarding 99% of the time.

DG - just for surfing. Sounds like you're good to go for what you like to do.

Don't watch them, just time about how long it takes. Couple pounds here or there is not going to make a huge difference.

In conclusion, get a 750 or two and your good to go.

i agree with this completely i finally have most the regulars in the boat trained to look back and see the wake and move around to clear it up i could have the bags filled to the exact pound but three guys on the drivers side and a few girls on the other side messes it up so just add about what you want and have people move around to clean up the wake.
