Anybody use this mirror arm on their towers?

I bought it thinking it would have an insert...but it doesn't. I called them to ask about it and was told to mount it directly (and tight) and it wouldn't scratch. Just curious what you guys did, how well it works, and if there are scratching/moving/vibration issues.
