Well it wasn't hard but it was a little tedious and a little more time consuming than expected. Start to finish was 2.5 hrs including bleeding the complete brake system. A couple floor jacks helps because the axle weighs 90lbs which makes lifting it into place while under the trailer difficult. We used the two floor jacks to simultaneously lift the axle into the mounts. Oh, total time also included replacing the damaged fender with the new one and attaching the carpet fender piece from old to the new fender because Boatmate does not include that piece since it was not damaged

No pics?
Gald you got it done. I'm always a little worried about the other axle now.
Lets hope we don't have to deal with that. Which axle went out on yours?

How much did your new axle cost if you don't mind?

Pretty sure Boatmate warrantied the axle.

Must have done some sweet sweet talking. My axle broke going through atlanta and boatmate laughed.

Front right was the problem. To be honest, I think I'm going to buy a spare axle. While Jerry was incredible at Boatmate (the guy is over worked during the season) I just would like to have a spare on hand so I don't miss 2-3 weekends.

You know I was in need of some parts for my utility trailer and I found a company that supplies such, leaf springs, axles, brakes, a good selection. I saw that they have 8,000 # torsion axles, however the price was not listed for that, you had to call.

In my experience with single axle trailers, as mine is, these axles from boatmate simply dont hold up. I was pissed when my axle broke coming through atlanta on I-20. Not a good experience.

I just dont understand why you put a 3500 lb axle under a boat that weighs more than that.

OK mine was the rear. I was curious to see if it was random, or if the rear axle just saw a little more stress being the trailing axle.
Random it is!
