that's awesome man, strong work! Hey where do I find out how the slalom divisions work. I've been all over the USA waterski website but haven't been able to find it.

Well don't be too impressed - all you have to do is make one bouy in a tournament to get ranked....

great man thanks- the path for me is clear; ski school this fall, Grassroots next year and see where it goes after that; I'm 33 right now so in 2 yrs it looks like I would get to move to a "more seasoned" division.

Are the rules/speed requirements the same for each division? It seems like I remember you or sled mentioning that in some of the divisions you can start shortening the rope at 34 mph instead of going all the way to 36?

Someone saw me skiing and said I was rank. I tend to agree.

Nice job!

Mens 3 drops to 34 mph max.... As you go up it gets slower. I was just at a tournament where a guy in Mens 9 ran the course in jump skis at about 22 ?? I don't think you are ever required to us a slalom ski - just make the bouys... We see 8 year old girls doing the course in combos at about 20 mph.

My 9 year old (Garrett Reese) is ranked 33rd in B1 on that site. He will be skiing in the regionals next weekend in Wilimington, IL in slalom and trick. Fun stuff...

That is excellent - what is opening speed for B1 in slalom? Do you have him on long line? or 15 off? Did he learn it all from you?

He only got his confidence from me. Other than getting up, he's taught himself to slalom. Some of the really good skiers at these tournaments have been very helpful to him as well. I think the minimum speed is 16 mph but he's running long line at 23 mph getting the full course. He's working on 25 mph but is stuck at 5 bouys. Hoping to get that run down before regionals next weekend.

IMHO those kids are rock stars. At those slower speeds the wake is pretty big, so navigating the course is a challenge. Good for him - best of luck at regions...

what an awesome sport where you can get coached by a world record holder; sure skiing isn't as mainstream as most sports but I still think that's cool.

Ed i'll keep that in mind as we/i might need something to do while wife and kids are shopping.
