Wondering if this prop was more for top end or pulling. I found one cheap.

Not a bad wake board prop for my kids and I don't have a problem getting up boarding either (195 lbs). On my 06 OBV (325 Assault) I can hit @ 40 top end empty and cruise at 29 mph @ 3100 rpm. It is the factory prop and from what I have been reading here on the boards I would go to a 13 x 16ish if I replaced it specifically for surfing which all I do now. This prop change gives a better a hole shot, which I have noticed is slower on OBV when loaded with ballast and peeps. Botton line is I don't go over 25 usually and could care less about going fast except when my wife slaloms @ 34 mph.

I had the 13.7x17.5 on my boat stock. granted elevation will make some difference, but I changed out to the 14.5x14.25 and the holeshot is night and day. the 13 would take forever to plane out when loaded down, and when surfing, I had to empty some of the 2000lbs of ballast to even think about planing out. the 14 has no issues. I did lose 2mph off the top and am now around 38, but don't care. I don't ever tow slalom. the 13 had no issues pulling me out of the hole with no ballast, but did struggle with the g3 system full. I have the 340ext-cat motor.
I have not noticed any difference in surfing the 2 props, but haven't surfed much yet with it..

funny i have the same prop on my obv 07 and i top out at 47 mph, hole shot is great for slalom or boarding, normally don't load it down to board. no ballast is challenging enough on the board. surfing we have weigh it down with 600 plus in the corner, 400 in the locker and 5 adults , noproblems there either..

which boat are you putting it on.?

I am not even sure what I have on it now but it seems to do okay. I run quite a bit of weight when boarding and surfing, around 1600-1700lbs.

it would make a good spare prop if the price is right. I would not be afraid to run it..
personally, I like the out of the hole shot on the 14" props and will only use my 13.7 as a spare.

Eric,

Please put your year and model boat in your sig. So which boat do you have and how much weight do you run while wakeboarding (is the 1600-1700 lbs for boarding or surfing?)
