Only have 10hrs on the boat, but filled the sacs up already and saw how much the boat struggled to get on plane, and only with 3-4 people in it too.

I am going to get a new prop but unsure on what others are running and how it has helped.

I had an OJ 3 blade on my older ski boat and it was night and day difference so I was thinking of going with an OJ 14 X 14.5 LC 1 1/8" 4-blade to help on the low end.

Any comments on props?

see "prop test results"

Just stick "prop test results" into the Search tool near the top of the page and you'll find a wealth of recent information.

Short answer: Yes, selecting a lower-pitch prop will make a very large difference. Just like towers are now standard equipment, I think that lower-pitch props should be standard on all of the "V"-hull boats, assuming that this sort of thing will be an issue.

Are you running stock ballast (1200#'s?) or have you upgraded?

Yes the OJ 14 X 14.5 LC 1 1/8" 4-blade will help on the low end, with a little loss on top end, and with 2k+ in ballast it will plane like the standard prop with no ballast

I just put the acme variant on my boat and finally had a chance to run it loaded. had 4 in the boat and 2500lbs of ballast with the 340hp extcat motor. it jumped on plane, where before with the 13x17 4blade, it would struggle to even get up to 15. great upgrade, but did lose a couple mph on the top. not a big deal since I don't ski/tow skiiers nor have to run up a river/lake to get to the spot to board.

interesting note: when picking up shaft packing at the sanger dealer the other day they are selling their surf series boat with a 3blade prop. when I asked the guy about that, he stated that their boats are built to run on 3blade designs....

The Sanger boats use the 1:1 transmissions and will run the lower pitch 3-blades.

so not to get into a big debate here, what are the advantages of that route? it seems to be out of the "norm" from almost every other wakeboat maker.

We went with the Acme 1433. It's the 14 x 14.25, but does not growl like the OJ. At least not on mine anyway. Quite a difference from the stock prop. Above posters are correct - you will lose a few mph on top end but well worth it to plane quickly.

We "threw" a blade on our OJ 14x14.25 and just got the Acme 14x14.25 so we will see how this one goes. Has anyone else heard of throwing a blade and do you think OJ will give me a refund of any kind?

Any damage or was it thrown away from the boat? That stinks but I've heard of that from all companies. I don't think it's an OJ issue - just nature of the business. That being said I'm sure they will make it right.

No, luckily it was thrown away from the boat, I guess, or it would have been a disaster. The prop looks crazy though but our boat does run a lot smoother with the Acme for whatever reason.

Give me a call - 800-359-9730 and we can take a look at the prop.

Has anyone upgraded their prop on a pre-06 LSV? Most of the testing and upgrades I've seen have been on newer models before the boats were overhauled.

I have an '05 LSV, and was wakeboarding last night with ballast full, and 5 guys on board. We didn't get on plane until close to 19 or 20 mph, and it took forever to get there. I'm wondering if anyone w/ a similar boat has upgraded to one of the better props, and how much it helped....

You can look for data on the OBV from '06-08 as it's the same hull you have.

I run an acme 537 ? I think 14 x 16 . It works well for me at 5280 ft. Jim.
