Im looking to buy a 2001 moomba outback LS, it hasnt been in the water since 2005, but said it ran when parked. The seats are cracked and the boat is faded. What would be a good asking price for it. It has 131 hours on it

Do you know if it was winterized properly or anything about the 5 years that it set?

For sure, you will need to replace all of the fluids, filter, and impeller BEFORE you try to start it. Tires on the trailer probably need to be replace. Factor the cost of all of that into your price. Check NADA- $10,600 to $12,500.

I would start at $8500, but that is just me.

So it is defently worth the $6500 the lady is asking?

I have no idea if it was winterized or not. This lady got it in her deviorce and hasnt did anything with it since.

I would think at $6,500 that I would take the gamble that the engine is ok and go for it. It would be nice to be able to get the boat on the water for a run. With the NADA at $10,600 you have some room to work with before breaking even especially if you can do that work yourself.

Yeah, i can pretty much work on anything. How hard would it be to get the shine back on the sides?

Define "hard". You can wet sand and buff it out, which is a manual labor intense project. Hard, no; lots of work yes.

Shine should be the last thing to do. Get the boat running and enjoy it for the summer. Shine as a winter project, so that you don't miss time on the water.

$6500 would seem to be a good price if it runs. As an American, you should always lowball the price.

Yeah, but I dont have nothing but time. I will work on getting it running for sure, but I also want it to look good. I defenetly low ball the price for sure. besides the fluids and filters, what else will I need to check or replace?

I was going to chime in that 10-12 would be pretty fair. I wetsanded and buffed the whole hull on my O/B when I got it. I just did a section every night when I got home from work. In about 10 days you had to wear sunglasses to look at it.

The more I think about it the more I want to buy it and just resale it. If I wet sand and buff it and get it running good what kind of profit would I be looking at making?

One more question, can you wet sand over the decals?

No the decals will just smear and peel off. Just get a heat gun and heat them up a little and peel them off. Then order new ones there not hard to install.

You are going to clear 4k-5k pretty easily if you don't have serious issues.
