Where do you put your boards while traveling? Do you just leave them in the racks or put them in the floor of the boat till you get there?

I put mine in the bed of my truck.

This was a huge debate last year also. If your close to the lake and not going to be traveling faster then what the boat goes in the water i dont think it realy matters.

If your going to be on the freeway id say no way the boards have to be stowed. We generally keep ours in the V drive locker. This year i think they will be in the back of the truck as i am tired of vacuuming and cleaning the V drives ever couple days LOL.

My boat is stored 2-3 miles from the water and speed limit is 45mph so I just leave mine in the racks and drive 40mph. As with everyone else, if I have to drive further than my primary ramp to another ramp I'll put them in wakeboard bags in the truck.

Always in the boat or in the truck. Never on the racks.

The common argument is "I'm only going 45 mph to the launch" which isn't much different than being on the lake at 45mph.

The difference is that if your board flies out of the racks at 45 mph on the lake it doesn't go through the windshield of the car behind you and it doesn't shatter to pieces when it hits the ground.

Just put em in the truck or on the floor of the boat.

Never in the racks no matter how far or fast. I've seen what happens when boards come off and it ain't pretty! Mine are either in the rear compartments or in truck bed.

I definitely agree! I always keep them in the boat. Most boards are $300-400, and the last thing you would want would be to lose it and have it destroyed for a silly mistake like that. Or even worse, come off and hit someone going down the road. Not worth the risk.

I used to carry them in the racks, but now place them in the extended cab or in the bed. occasionally in the front of the boat with the snap-on cover in place, but not very often there.

On the floor of the boat on either side of the motor!
never on the racks for reasons already stated.

I concur with all you guys. I don't think, even if I was traveling a short distance, that I'd leave them in the racks. You never know what could happen, and like JB said, these cost a fair amount of money, and I would hate to see my boards bouncing down the road behind me...

Never on the racks for me. I put this together last year and it works great, although I replaced the MDF (not water friendly) with 1 x 12.

I put everything that can fall or blow out of the boat in my rig. I told someone last year that the value of their boat wouldn't pay for attorney fees if one of those boards came off and hurt someone.

McMoomba, I think I remember pics of that setup from last year. Way too cool. I think I resolved to get more organized after seeing that. Well, I have a list of things I'm going to do to to organize better-- where'd I put that list anyway?

I only ever travel with wakeskates and they are always tucked into my gunwales.....I actually think it looks pretty poserish when you see people driving down the road with gear in the racks. Just my opinion.

I agree with you here. Also i only seem to see people with old ass gear that do this too LOL.

I will have to make me one of those cool racks for Black Betty McMoomba thats a sweet idea.

Thats a very good idea, THANKS!

The reason I ask is a local dealer was asking why I kept the boards on the floor of the boat while I was pulling it. He told me it was better to put them in the racks because thats what they were for. I asked about them flying out of the racks and he said they stay there while driving on the water.

Thanks again !!

We all have bags for ours then they sit in the boat nicely. My bag holds mine and my wife's board. I can't really see having them in there for longer than the ride from the camp site to the boat ramp. On the water there are no rocks flying around or passing trucks.

anybody else see the mybusters episode where they tossed a soda bottle, or a fountain drink? thru a oncoming car's windshield--just think what a board could do.
