Anybody have advice on a good infant vest? I'll check here locally but will search for one if somebody has any good info. on them!

We have a 8lb - 7week old baby that I want to find a vest for!
I have a vest that is up to 30lbs that my 2.5 year old wore summer of 2008but she was 9 months when we had her in it. Also isn't neoprene so it isn't near as comfy.
I think it's too big for our new baby?

MY niece had one that is a swimsuit with built in padding that worked well. She looked like an umpire. hehe

viking- i was looking for a picture of the one we used when I came across this site

http://www.waterskiworld.com/life_vest/Infant_Life_Vest/infant_life_vest.html

it has some good general advice at the bottom of the page regarding infants and boating. Just make sure that whatever you get has the headrest that will flip them face up should the unthinkable happen. It also talks about not strapping the infant into anything like a car seat while on the boat.

The one we used was similar to most of the neoprene vests on that site.

The first 6 months is tough as the vests are very tight around the neck (so they can't slip out) and not very comfortable. Good luck!

I'm also looking for a good suggestion. We have a baby due in 3 weeks (June, 9th). We bought the one pictured below, but it seems like it will be to big for the first few months. Any made specifically for new babies instead of 0-30 lb vests?

vking and muzzy we used the nylon one from barts. check page 2 of the thread.

https://forum.moomba.com/showthread.php?t=8308&page=2

a little bulky for new borns she was 4 weeks then last summer, should fit her better now. we just took the portable infant car carrier into the boat , no straps or anything

this one may work as well

our looks like the yellow one for 15 bucks, but in baby teal & pink

thanks all. I found one locally that is much like the one listed in the barts link. We have one that we used last year for my middle child but it was nylon and pretty rough feeling and has a strap for between the legs. Wanted neoprene and an all-in-one peice with a swimsuit connection instead of strap (if that makes sense?)

It's the O'brien 8 down on the list:

Sounds like you found one that fits the bill. We bought one of these for our little one - http://www.salusmarine.com/product/bijoux.html

Worked really well and managed to have a couple of friends us it for their little ones.

Yes it gets pretty warm. The Bimini was a godsend for our 2nd child over the last couple years.

We went out with our neighbors last year and they had an 9mo. old and we were in their Bayliner. After a day with them I said "for god's sake get a bimini for that kid" as they didn't have any shade and it makes a HUGE difference.
