Well I am looking to add more weight to my 08 OBV. I currently have the GI system and am looking to add the two V drive sacks making it a GIII system. My question is should I just install the 400's or should i go up to 750's?

Jester,

Depends what your goals are. Are you an advanced wakeboarder and want the biggest possible wake? If so, then you probably want the 750's. If not, I would go with something smaller.

I am not an advanced wakeboarder and the wake from my LSV with the stock 1200 lbs of ballast is plenty for me. But I do not like the super long sacs so I went with the 455# X2 sacs as they are short and leave the front of the rear lockers available for storage. I do have a 750 that I swap in for one of the 455's when I want to surf.

You could also put in two 750's and just fill them part of the way for boarding if you don't necessarily want to carry around all that weight but you will have to learn to eye ball them so that they are about even.

750's are too big and the 565's fit but are two pricey.

Let me know how you are doing your gI to GIII . i gathered almost all the parts but have not pulled the trigger on the install yet.

I was thinking the 750's would be too big. I could just fill them up most of the way but then i have to watch them and if they break i would have a swimming pool.


For the upgrade to the GIII I have kicked around alot of ideas. It always comes down to having to give up one thing for price. I am looking at around $660 to do the whole thing and that is the high end. I am taking Al's idea on his setup since i really like it. The price is with 2 400 lbs bags.

I will break it down with links on what i will be getting. Most of the links are from Wakemasters since i have been spending way too much time on their site.

To start off i will replace the Thru-Hull intake with a 1" 1/4'. This will prevent the autofill and should be big enought opening for 3 intake pumps.

This will go to a shutoff and a Three way T of some sort.

Next i will add two more Tsunami 1200's. This is one per bag. I will reuse the T1200 for the center bag that is with the GI system

From there I will add a 1' Non-Return check valve to each line going to the bags. This will prevent draining when at speed.

I still do not know the size of bags i will be using yet.

For the empty pumps I might just use another two Tsunami 1200's making it 4 of the same pump. Easy to switch around if one pump dies on the water.

I will also add a vent line for each of the bags.

Then last part is the switches and wires.

Hang ups on this system:
I have to drill 5 holes in the boat and mess with the under boat intake.
The 5 holes are 2 for the rear empty and 3 for the vents.
Price is always somthing to think about.

You may have a tough time finding the fitting for the 1200 pumps for the drain pumps, odd thread size. 800 should do just fine.


Byronkoz did a nice mod for the 06 to 08 OBV, could prolly do his with the check valves and not drill as many holes, could you use the drain holes as the vent holes as well.

Definitely recommend using the drain holes as vent holes. Put a check valve in the line and you should be fine.

I did somewhat similar system except I used 3 1" intakes and 3 T1200's. One intake and one pump per bag. Don't forget that you will need the special 1 1/8" female to straight barb on the intake sides of those T1200's. The threads are 1 1/8" and will not pony up with Tazz has some pics of them in his photo album. I bought mine through Attwood. I can find out exactly where if you would like me to. Good luck on the upgrade. I went from 14.5 min to 6min flat and that was even after increasing my system by 300lbs.

One other question is does it matter if you use 1" hose or 3/4"? Will it make that much of a difference?

Depends on which pumps you select. T800s won't perform any better with 1" hose over 3/4". But the T1200s definitely will.
