I am in the process of obtaining a fuel sending unit for my 97 outback. I found the local dealer which was approx 70 miles from my area, so I decided to contact Skiers Choice directly. I received a propt reply to my inquiry, however was directed back to the dealer for the part. Well I contacted the dealer and ordered the part. I requested it be sent second day air as I am going on a trip this weekend and wanted to make sure I got the part in time. I was then told that they could not have the item drop shiped and that it would have to be shiped to the dealer. I was a bit put out by this but decided to do it. Well the part came in and I went today to pick it up, the wrong part came. Basically I drove 140 miles, which translates to about 3 hrs of missed work (Chicago traffic), and now I have to go pull the sending unit out to measure the length. I know that mistakes happen, but is this normal procedures for ordering a part. When I contacted the dealer I gave him the vin number for the boat, the name brand and size of the tank, and then agreed to pay the additional cost for the shipping. A week later and about $100 in missed pay and I am back to square one. The fuel gage is not that big a deal, but after going to the trouble of getting to the unit to remove it, I really dont want to put everything back togther without fixing it. Now I am three days away from my trip and not sure if I can even get the part in time. This is my second attempt at dealing with Moomba Dealers and both times I have been disappointed. I hope to buy a new boat soon, but am a bit concerned about the service. Should I be concerned?

I have easy access to three Moomba dealers and avoid them unless absolutely necessary. Most stuff is available generically via oem's, or from other boat dealers or parts specialists who will order from an oem on your behalf. Else, I'll retro the system to a generic part.

Sure wish Skier's Choice would adopt a direct-to-customer model for parts. Our dealers here are cordial, but don't spend the time to sort-out the details on parts ordering.

The dealer here in Dallas is great, maybe you could order from them if you are getting it shipped anyway.

I agree that the dealer here in Dallas is really good. I have needed several things from them and haven't had any problems so far. Where in Dallas are you noneya? What lake do you go to?

I'm in Flower Mound, usually @ Lewisville, Ray Roberts or the Brazos river. I have a yellow/blue Outback LS w/ anodized tower, pulled behind a white Durango. We'll be @ Ray Roberts this weekend, if you see the boat swing by.

The problem with contacting the dealer in Dallas is that Skiiers Choice will not drop ship the part. According to the local dealer here. Then I am paying shipping twice. Well anyway I contacted ISSPRO who made the part, had a new one custom built as the original part was no longer available, they sent it overnight the same day. The sales person even called me today to give some install directions as he forgot to put a note in the box when he shipped it. Now that is customer service. Too bad they don't make boats. Hopefully I can get my boat back together tonight and leave for vacation in the morning. Only person I know that goes to Canada to go waterskiing.
