Staples...SS or Monel?

Needing to do some repairs, I live inland and don’t see salt corrosive issues. It seems a big price difference between T50 Stainless Steel and Monel staples. Any thoughts?

You have to assume they are going to get wet. I wouldn't use anything but SS. But, they are expensive.

reading on the box for Arrow SS(~$13) they state not for marine use...the marine websites seem to sell the Monel which are higher price (~$35)..

One site has this description:

Monel staples contain roughly 66 percent nickel and 33 percent copper. This is a unique alloy that prevents them from creating the galvanic corrosion that stainless steel staples form when they come in contact with metal screen or steel fasteners.

Monel is the shiz. We used to use it in the chem industry because its anti-corrosive qualities.
I didn't know there was such a thing as monel staples. I wonder if you could buy them for a pneumatic staple gun?

I used SS staples when i re-did a bunch of stuff on the last boat, no problems. But then they didn't cost me squat either, actually $.01 per box! No lie! Went to home depot to get them, grabbed a box and went to self help checkout. Swiped other stuff through and when i got to the staples it said "$.01" so i told the wife "go grab three more boxes, quick!" Sure enough they all swiped at $.01! I still got SS staples out the ...! :p

So also remember that alot of stuff that says "not for marine use" is referring to salt water, not fresh. Believe it or not many companies don't consider fresh water "marine".

I bought some staples this week, I seen SS and Monel. Both said marine use but the monel said not to be used with pressure treated wood because they would corrode.

I've had good results with SS in trailer bunks (pressure treated) and in the vinyl seat backing in Moombas. That's what I'd use.

I had the rear seat of my moomba re upholstered a couple years ago. I figured as it was for marine they would automatically use stainless staples....that was a bad assumption.. :(

I guess that is why the guy who did the work is no longer in business.

Don't get me started on taxes. I could buy a new skii boat every year if it wasn't for taxes :(
