Well I was able to put my boat back together this weekend and make my way to the water. Baby started up on the first crank just like every other time. It was great. Air temp was 61* today and water temp of 47*. We got some wakeboarding in but the water was not that great until we pulled out and had everything put away. I was also able to save another group that their boat decided to die and not want to start again. It is nice to be back in my happy place.

I would like to thank Al and the rest of the Moomba Family for all the tips and tricks on winterizing so she was able to start without any issues.

Start the year off strong and with a good deed, that will pay dividends all season, way to go!

53º air and 45º water here. Went last 2 weekends with a 4/3 steamer and have decided to invest in booties, gloves and a cap. Ice cream headache was not pleasant.

that's great that you got out
I read in the paper this morning that a fisherman fell through the ice in a local reservoir. The first thing I though was "I hope he's OK" (and he is) the second thing I thought was "Hey the ice is getting thin that means it's almost Moomba time!"

Man i can't wait to get home and hit the water. I have about two more weeks and I'll be on the water. Work sucks! But, it does pay the bills!. Glad to hear y'all are starting the season early, but I could never get in water around 45. That's just crazy! I don't even know if our water gets below 55 anytime of the year.

I think the weather is a bit backwards this year.

Not that i want a long cold winter but here in the NW its been relatively warm winter. I got trees in my yard blooming already and thats way to soon, i had to mow the yard last weekend and i never do that before April.

Now you FL peeps are chilled out and haven't all the winter weather LOL

I'm really hopping this means we get a summer starting in May this year, as for last year we had rain well into the last half of June.

Sled, that is the best news that I have heard all week!! Not referring to your quad runner going through the ice of course
I've been seeing puddles of the liquid stuff all over lately. Open water soon! YAY!

Pointless post, just wanted to be the third Wisconsinite in a row to post :D

flatH20, I know what you mean with people being in the wrong class. It should be a fun event no matter what. What tricks do you have down? I might also ride depending on how injured I feel at the time. Do they have a class for young people that feel old some days.

I'm presuming those guys at least have dry suits since the water's around 40... at least that's what I'm telling myself for now. Wish I had a dry suit but until then I think I need at least another 5 degrees. Oh- and there's NO WAY I'm getting in a cold water contest with anybody from the great state of Wisconsin

Us Canadians may be hearty when it comes to the Cold ,but we're not stupid, haha. Yeah get a drysuit, one of the best investments i've made in the last couple years.

For $400 a dry suit will add another 2to 4 months to your boating time. Well worth it.

I prefer the bag type as it seems to be easier to get in and out of, it allows layering underneath and seems to have more freedom of movement. I paid about 300.00 for mine from YellowMobius who was selling them on Ebay. I thought it was a good deal and has worked great for me so far.

I also have the Oneill and it is great. it is baggy so i can put on alot of clothing under the dry suit and keep very warm. I get a little water in right around my neck. Only had more then just a little water inside once and i crashed big time and at that time water was not a big issue. Just make sure you have good seals around the neck, feet and wrists.

I layer with sweat pants, t shirts and sweat shirts. I'm going to try and get in within the next 2 weeks, if I have to I may get a scuba type base layer to help with insulation.
