I think my speedo is terribly wrong!

Ok, took my OBV out for the first time today and I think the speedo might be off. The speedo said 25mph max when I was flooring it above 5000 rpm and I know it felt faster than my old I/O (which maxed out at 35mph). Is it common for the speedo to be out by that much?

Also consider the impact of over-revving a new boat. If this is new - refere to manual for break-in guidelines. For a direct drive, 3000 RMP is about 30MPH. Not sure if that is true with VD, or the influence of the props. Chances are you were doing 46-48 mph. I am also thinking you shold have two speedos? Or have they done away with that now? Did they both read the same?

This is a good point, it takes about 8 hours to break the motor in properly. Anyways WOT top speed on your boat is prob 37 - 42 mph depending on prop and motor size unless you have the 409. one speedo as not an awsa slalom approved boat

Ed, I didn't know there was a speedo adjustment. I'll go look for it now.

Benson, We were out for about 8 hours yesterday so the boat had about 9 hours on it when I opened her up. I was limiting RPM's according to the manual up until 5 hrs. I only have 1 speedo.

Actually I was going to go with something like, 'If something is wrong with your speedo then maybe you should stick to board shorts - or hit the gym...'.....
